The wet plywood under the stucco expands and forces excessive movement of the stucco. So much so that it begins to pull away from the wall. By patching the crack we will only put a temporary aesthetic fix and not a proper correction.
Recommendation: Most people simply assume that a quick patch will work, but for severe cracks, we recommend a third-party inspector to determine the cause of the cracking.
